Photoinduced insulator-metal transition in correlated electrons — a Floquet analysis with the dynamical mean-field theory

چکیده
In order to investigate photoinduced insulator-metal transitions observed in correlated electron systems, we propose a new theoretical method, where we combine a Floquetmatrix method for AC-driven systems with the dynamical mean-field theory. The method can treat nonequilibrium steady states exactly beyond the linear-response regime. We have applied the method to the Falicov-Kimball model coupled to AC electric fields, and numerically obtained the spectral function, the nonequilibrium distribution function and the current-voltage characteristic. The results show that intense AC fields indeed drive Mott-like insulating states into photoinduced metallic states in a nonlinear way.

Slave particles made real : Critical Fermi surface at a Mott transition in Bose - Fermi mixtures
The Mott metal–insulator transition of fermions is a long-standing open problem in the theory of correlated electrons. While important conceptual ideas were developed in the early works of Mott, Hubbard, Gutzwiller, Brinkman/Rice, and others, a reliable solution of a relevant microscopic model is difficult because of the strong-coupling nature of the problem. For the single-band Hubbard model, ...

We review the dynamical mean-field theory of strongly correlated electron systems which is based on a mapping of lattice models onto quantum impurity models subject to a self-consistency condition. This mapping is exact for models of correlated electrons in the limit of large lattice coordination (or infinite spatial dimensions). It extends the standard mean-field construction from classical st...
متن کاملDynamical Mean-field Theory for Correlated Lattice Fermions
Dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT) is a successful method to investigate interacting lattice fermions. In these lecture notes we present an introduction into the DMFT for lattice fermions with interaction, disorder and external inhomogeneous potentials. This formulation is applicable to electrons in solids and to cold fermionic atoms in optical lattices. We review here our investigations of the...

The Numerical Renormalization Group method (NRG) has been developed by Wilson in the 1970’s to investigate the Kondo problem. The NRG allows the non-perturbative calculation of static and dynamic properties for a variety of impurity models. In addition, this method has been recently generalized to lattice models within the Dynamical Mean Field Theory. This paper gives a brief historical overvie...

Dynamics of photoinduced phase transitions in molecular conductors are reviewed from the perspective of interplay between correlated electrons and phonons. (1) The charge-transfer complex TTF-CA shows a transition from a neutral paraelectric phase to an ionic ferroelectric phase. Lattice phonons promote this photoinduced transition by preparing short-range lattice dimerization as a precursor. M...
